Casual put together mama style

Sorry I have been away for a month...
I have been super busy with doing the 21 day fix from Beachbody
and I just totally lost track of my blog.
But I do want to tell you that if you'd like to join me in the 21 day challenge
or I plan on doing the new Piyo Fitness here next month
so you are welcome to join me!
Just follow my link either on the side bar or
right here.

But now onto my post.
I just bought this shirt for my anniversary gift
and am going to be getting this necklace soon from my online
Stella + Dot Trunk show I am having on Facebook.
Here is the link to my trunk show
so you can join me in checking out the brand new fall line
and splurging on some gorgeous jewelry for yourself!

So I wanted to put together an outfit that I will for sure be wearing as soon as I get both of these items in my possession!
The shirt should be here in the next week or so but the necklace will be awhile
since my trunk show is going on for a couple weeks.
Please join me if you'd like!
Here is my adorable + super comfy but put together mama outfit
using these two things and basics I already have.

dressy casual

dressy casual by libbyuglesich featured in lauren conrad style

I had to include a cute pair of sunnies
and some bright red lips + mega long lashes
with some boyfriend jeans, adorable pink bow sandals
and it wouldn't be complete without a cute top knot to "top" it all off!

Hair products I'm loving

I have gotten a bunch of new hair products in the last 6 months
and I am loving a few of them.
So I really wanted to share them with you guys
because these are amazing!
hair products

1:: Redken Pillow Proof {dry express primer with heat protection}
I just started using this product and it is amazing!
I love how it speeds up my drying time while also protecting my strands from the
damaging heat of the hairdryer all in one.

2:: L'Oreal Elnett Satin Hairspray {extra strong hold}
This stuff is awesome for keeping hairstyles in place
but isn't crunchy at all
and your hair still moves naturally so it's not plastered to your head.

3:: Not Your Mother's Way to Grow {leave-in conditioner}
This stuff is great because my hair gets tangled so badly in the shower
so I have to use a detangler when I get out of the shower to comb through my hair
without killing my head!
Plus it is supposed to help your hair grow faster too.

4:: Alterna Bamboo Beach {summer sunshine spray}
This stuff protects my hair from the UV rays
and it's also supposed to help hold your color for longer.
It smells so good
and it leaves my hair looking shiny and silky!

5:: John Frieda Sheer Blonde Go Blonder {controlled lightening spray}
This Stuff helps lighten my hair in the summer.
I love how it intensifies my hair color + highlights.

6:: Bath and Body Works Endless Weekend {wave & shine hair mist}
I love this stuff!
The smell is absolutely the best ever
and it gives nice waves on the days you want to have the beachy wave look
and gives you amazing shine on the days you want nice hair.

7:: Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Serum {smoothes and conditions}
This stuff is absolutely amazing
and it makes my hair feel so smooth.
It always look so healthy + shiny after I smooth it on my hair.

8:: Batiste Dry Shampoo {with a hint of color light + blonde}
I can't say enough great things about dry shampoo!
Since I am so busy with my kiddos I only wash my hair about twice a week
and so I use this religiously to keep my hair looking fresh + clean
all week long even when I don't wash my hair.

9:: Nexxus Color Assure Primer {pre-cleanse treatment}
I color my hair {and have since I was about 12}
and this stuff helps my color last longer by closing off my hair from letting the water saturate
the strands so that the color doesn't seep when I wash it.
I've only used it a couple of times but it has helped from what I can tell!
There is also a color assure glossing tonic that I want to get to try,
it is supposed to bring out the color's luminosity when you spray it on your hair after you've styled it.
{once I've tried it I'll let you know how I like it}

beach overnight essentials

beach overnight

This is what I'd take with me on an overnight to the beach...
I'd love to have a one night stay with my husband this summer to the Oregon Coast.

First off a good bag is essential
and that one from Hayden Reis is huge so you can use it to pack all your stuff
and then use it for the beach also.
Then I'd bring a clear waterproof pouch from One Truffle to hold my phone,
Softlips chapstick, phone charger from Lilly Pulitzer + hair tie.
I would pack that adorable diamond speaker + water tumbler from Shop Bando
and floppy hat from Jessica Simpson
and of course some magazine reading material.
For the beach I'd pack an adorable swim suit from Old Navy
a good coverup + some sunglasses from Coach.
For sun protection I'd bring Banana Boat Protect and Hydrate SPF50 lotion
which doesn't feel greasy or sticky which I can't stand at all.
And this adorable beach towel from Pottery Barn Kids.
For walking around the town I'd bring a cute tank like that one from
Cake for Breakfast, some cute cutoff shorts, a cute pair of flips
and top it off with a cute pair of earrings.
The only makeup I'd bring would be from Bare Minerals
and it'd only be the new BB cream primer, a blush, lip gloss + mascara.
I'd bring Yes to face wipes, contact solution, Dove deodorant, Alterna Bamboo Beach Summer Sunshine Spray,
Not Your Mother's sea salt spray,
hand sanitzer, body lotion + body spray from Bath & Body Works.
I of course have to bring my favorite bright nail polish for my fingers and toes from Essie.
For dinner I'd bring a flowy maxi dress, cute sandals, a clutch,
some cute dangle earrings + some adorable bobby pins to pin my beach wavey,
windblown bangs out of my face.
For sleep I'd bring a cute pajama set from Victoria's Secret,
a head wrap, my glasses + some comfy slippers.
{because I don't like walking on the floor in hotel rooms}

I hope that James and I can sneak away for one night this summer to our beautiful coast
and have some alone time!
Maybe for our anniversary at the end of this month we could make it work.
Keep your fingers crossed for me.

let's stop the judgement!

I want to start this off by saying that I am in no way perfect
and am definitely at fault for doing this myself.
I just think we need to confront it head on...
We as women need to listen to each other
and actually hear what the other women are saying.

We as women need to be so much more supportive to each other than we are.
In everything...
In motherhood {& everything that comes with it}...
In body image...
In relationships...
Let's just support each other!
Stop judging each other and love each other for who we are.
We are all different but yet we're all the same.
We all come from different places
and have different relationships
and lives, but we all have feelings
and we all have to be willing not only to see the difference{s} but understand them.
I love just like you do.
I see faults in myself every.single.time I look in the mirror just like you.
I have rough days and amazing days just like you.
I have special qualities just like you.
I work so hard to be happy just like you.
I feel just like you.

I don't want to care that you breastfed your kid when I didn't...
I don't want to care that you feed your kids all organic when I feed my kids whatever...
I don't want to care that you are in perfect shape and I am so far from it it's not even funny...
I don't want to care that you have a best friend but I don't...
I just want to see you
and know you
and love you for who you are.
In all your beautiful, amazing, funny, charming, sweet glory!

So why can't we just support each other and say I understand...
I'm here for you no matter what.
So this is what I propose that we stop judging
and start supporting each other no matter
our differences or our similarities!

Get it RIght... Get it Tight

My before 1/1/14
I am back on track with my weight loss journey.
I started back into it on January 1
and have been keeping pretty steady at eating healthy
and working out on a regular basis.

gym workout
As you know I've been doing a few fitness related giveaways to help kickstart me into
really working my booty off in the gym.

family walk to the park
James and I joined a gym at the beginning of this month
and I have been to a couple of Xtend Barre classes which are so much fun.
We've also been on a few family walks when it's been warm/nice enough outside.
I plan on continuing to go to the gym regularly
and going to Barre classes occasionally.

Barre class
I am also still on Weight Watchers
and I have been sticking to it pretty well.
Which has always been difficult for me in the past...
so I am pretty proud of myself right now.

I also went and got a bunch of brand new adorable workout gear.
I wanted cute clothes to keep me motivated in going to work out in.
I knew that if I had some cute gear I'd be more likely to go so I could wear them
and they wouldn't be a waste of money.

Wish me luck and I hope you'll stick around to see as I make progress
and change and lose weight!

fall essentials

fall essentials

Chambray shirt::
This is so popular right now and it's basically a neutral so you can wear it with pretty much anything and everything.
Old Navy, Gap + H&M are great places to pick up cheaper versions.

Military inspired jacket::
I love how versatile these jackets can be
plus they are lightweight so you they're perfect for crisp fall days.
I got mine from Kohls
but you can find options pretty much anywhere these days!

Ballet Flats::
I love ballet flats for fall because they're super comfy
and so quick to throw on.
I am hoping for a pair from either Tieks or Yosi Samra soon.

Gloves or Mittens::
Gotta keep your digits warm in the cold, crisp air of fall.
I love American Eagle or Old Navy for these.

Sparkly necklace::
When you want to add a little sparkle to your outfit this necklace is perfect.
I got mine from Nordstrom's during the sale but you can
get a super similar one from Hellofab.

Knit beanie::
Keeping your head warm is super important since all your body heat escapes
from your head or feet.
My goto's for beanies are Gap, Old Navy or Target.

Chunky scarf::
Going along with the theme of staying warm a chunky scarf is always a good idea.
I usually head to Etsy for a good quality handmade one.

Hairbands::
I like the ones that don't crease your hair.
You can get them everywhere but I love Knotieties
because she really does have every color and pattern you can imagine.

Printed leggings::
Some fun printed leggings are great with a big chunky sweater
and some ankle booties.
Groopdealz & Jane are great places to find cute ones.

Warm socks::
Sweater socks for those nights when it's super cold
and you need to keep your toes warm.
I love American Eagle or H&M for them.

Riding boots::
These are definitely an essential in my book
they have so many different cute ones plus you can get them in any color.
DSW or Famous Footwear are great for cheaper options.

Watch::
I good quality watch is important to get your kids to school on time.
Michael Kors and Kate Spade always have amazing watches
sure they are a bit pricey but a watch is something you can keep for a long time
and you need a high quality one that will last.

Sweater::
An oversized, warm, comfy sweater is 100% an essential for me.
I get cold easy so a good layering sweater is necessary.
Old Navy, H&M + Forever21 are great places to look for them.

Polka dot skinnies::
I have a pair of these and they are by far my favorite jeans right now.
I wear them all the time and with everything!
I got mine from Gap
but you can find them at Target, Old Navy + Forever21 right now.

Dark nail polish::
Gotta keep your fingers up with the color trends
and fall colors.
Essie, "Twin Sweater Set" + "Vested Interest"
are my favorite colors.

Wallet::
A good wallet is an essential in my opinion.
Mine fits my cell phone so I can use it as a clutch also.
Kate Spade is good for an expensive one or Forever21 is great for a cheaper version.

Berry colored lipstick::
A good berry colored lipstick is perfect for fall.
Bare Minerals, "Never Say Never" is my favorite.

Mascara::
A good mascara is always important.
But in the fall a dramatic eye can be so fun to play around with.
So Benefit, "They're Real" is perfect.

Foundation::
A great foundation that has good coverage is something you need in the fall.
I use Benefit, "Hello Flawless" and love it.

Eye Brightener::
I totally need an eye brightener all year round but in fall I need it way more.
I use Bare Minerals, "Stroke of Light" and it works great.
It even conceals a little bit.

Chapstick::
I have to have Chapstick with SPF because I get
canker sores super easily because I have a genetic disease that causes them.
My favorite is Soft Lips, "Raspberry Mint" it just tastes so good.

Body Lotion::
The cool air dries out my skin so super fast that a really moisturizing
lotion is super important for me.
I can't stand when my hands feel dry.
I love Bath & Body Works, "Sweet Cinnamon Pumpkin" because it smells so good
and it's triple moisture.

A tablet::
I love having my iPad in fall to play games + reading favorite my blogs.
I got mine for Christmas a few years ago.
Amazon, Apple, or Barnes & Noble are places to find different tablets.

Booties::
A good pair of booties is essential for a cool day when you don't want to wear knee high boots.
I got mine from Jessica Simpson.
But DSW has some amazing ones right now.

Face lotion::
A really good moisturizing face lotion is so important because of the drying weather in fall.
I love Dermalogica's, "Skin Smoothing Cream".

Eye cream::
I moisturize my eyes with something other than my face cream since your eye area is
so much more sensitive.
I use Bare Minerals, "Renew and Hydrate Eye Cream" and I really like it.

Eyeshadow::
A little bit darker eyeshadow in the fall is something fun to play with.
I really like this trio from Bare Minerals
because you get 3 colors and they all work together
and complement each other.

Primer::
A good primer is important to keep your makeup on your face all day.
I have been hearing great things about
Benefit, "Stay Flawless" and I am going to go get it for fall.

Rain Boots::
A good looking pair of rain boots is super important here in Oregon.
It rains most of fall so keeping your feet dry is not always easily done without them.
I got some Hunter Rain Boots for my birthday last year + love them!

Face Powder::
A good face powder keeps your face from looking shiny
and also helps keep your makeup on all day.
I like Bare Minerals, "Mineral Veil" because it's translucent.

Blush::
A more berry colored blush is great for fall
because of the darker colors you are sporting in clothing.
I am going to try MAC, "Love Thing" because I love MAC blushes.

Brown Bag::
A large brown tote bag is perfect for fall.
I love this one from Jessica Simpson
because the bow is adorable!

Flannel shirt::
A cute flannel shirt is a great statement piece plus super cute.
I got mine from Old Navy + Forever21.

Slippers::
A good comfy pair of slippers is great for those cold nights in.
I found those at Old Navy
but Macy's has some great options too.

Pumpkin Spice Latte::
This is should be obvious.
On cold days a nice hot Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks is perfect to warm you up.

Soup::
I love soup + salad/sandwiches in the fall.
It's my comfort food.
This recipe here for Butternut Squash soup looks delish
and I am definitely going to be trying it this fall.

Long Sleeve T-shirt::
A cute, comfy long sleeve t-shirt is essential in the fall.
On those days that are cool but cold enough for a jacket or sweater.
This one from American Eagle is something I am coveting.

Wine::
A good glass of wine can warm you up on those cold nights in with your hubby.
I like Skinny Girl + Cupcake, "Red Velvet".

Pajama Set::
A cute pajama set is something that'll keep you warm but still keep you looking cute.
Victoria's Secret has the best ones but
Target really stepped up their game last year
and I'm hoping they'll have some cute ones again this year.

Robe::
A comfy, cozy robe is good to keep you warm when you're lounging at home
watching some TV or movies.
I got mine at American Eagle years ago + still love it.

Movies::
A good movie on a cold night with your honey is a perfect evening in my opinion.
I like the Harry Potter series or the Twilight Saga.

Books::
Good books are something I love in fall.
I am a reader + always have been so in fall when you have that fire going
and it's cold outside + raining it's my favorite activity.
I am super excited for the 3rd book in the Divergent Trilogy
Allegiant coming in October.

Candles::
A great smelling candle is essential.

Blanket::
A good blanket to curl up under next to the fire while reading your book
and drinking your wine is exactly what I love.
I love this blanket from Pottery Barn.

Fire::
I love a fire in the fall.
An essential when buying our new home is going to be a fireplace.
We have one in this house and I love turning it on at night and cozying up with the hubs.

Teaching body image to kids

Katie from Loves of Life wrote a post that inspired my post for today.
Her post wasn't so much on body image but on being in a moment with her daughter
and not saying something that could start something in her daughter seeing her not love her body completely
and she did not want that.
But it put a spark into my brain about writing a post on body image and how I am going to try to deal with it when it comes to my kids.
So thank you Katie for this post here.

First of all I want to tell all of you that you are beautiful!
Don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise.
Our society has such a distorted view on what is beautiful
and we as mother's need to try to change that.
Since I am a mother of both a son + a daughter...
I have to come at it from both perspectives::
How males view women
and how women view women.

For Zane {+ any future son(s)}::
I am going to try to make it extremely clear that no matter what size a woman is
they are still beautiful.
I want him to understand that even if you are larger
you're still beautiful.
I am not a small girl and I have my problem areas which make me completely uncomfortable
because of what our society has made me think is beautiful.
I get asked on a regular basis when I am due.
{which by the way if you are not 100% positive that someone is pregnant do not ask them when they are due. It is embarrassing for both parties and makes me feel like crap!
Oh and it also completely pisses off my husband when someone asks me this
because of how rude it is.}
Really I don't look pregnant at all...
I gain all my weight in my stomach
and yes it's bigger than the rest of me but it definitely doesn't look like I'm pregnant.
I have cried many times when I've gotten home after a comment like that.
{Please people be considerate of others!}
Ok sorry so back to how to deal with it with Zane.
I don't want him to look at women and judge them by their size
{or in any other way}
I want him to look at women and think wow she's beautiful
or I would really like to get to know her because she looks interesting.
I know there have probably been people I have passed by in my life becoming friends with because of
the way that they looked...
and I D O  N O T want that for either of my children.
I want them to be friends with people because they are good people + are caring
+ loving + kind hearted.

For Lilah {+ any future daughter(s)}::
I want her to love herself no matter what she looks like.
I think she is the most beautiful girl in the world and so does her daddy...
I want her to look at herself + see beauty.
I want her too look at other women + see beauty in every.single.one of them.
I want her to look at her mama + think wow she's beautiful...
she's not perfect but she is beautiful.
I want her to know that no matter what anyone else says about her she is perfect in my eyes.
I will do E V E R Y T H I N G in my power to show her that.
I don't want her to look at someone + envy them for the way that they look.
I want her to love the way she looks.
I can't express enough that she is the most gorgeous little lady in the entire world
+ no one will ever be more beautiful than her.
Because in my eyes she is.
Plain + simple.

It's so important that we as parents try to teach our children how N O T to judge!
I want them to love people for who they are
+ not the way that they look.
So now it's time for me to love myself
+ stop hating the way I look.
I need my children to see me love myself so that they can love themselves.

summer essentials

I am going to share with you my summer essentials for this summer.
Things I am loving for this summer and things that are just plain necessity in my opinion.

summer

Maxi Dresses::
Really are a must for the summer for me.
I love how quick + easy they are to throw on and yet keep you cool enough on those really hot days
and this one is mint my favorite color right now!

Magazines::
I am a magazine junkie + my husband hates it
but I just can't help it.
They're just so much fun to read + look at.
My three favorites are instyle, glamour + lucky.

Flip Flops::
I love flip flops in the summer...
Um, hello comfy + easy to slip on in a second when you're chasing after two kids!
I love Old Navy flip flops because they're cheap yet still comfortable.

Fedora::
Gotta keep the sun off your face and stay stylish all at the same time.
I found an adorable one at Target but Gap has some really cute ones right now too!

Watch::
I am really into wearing a watch right now because it's so easy to lose track of time
when you have two little kids so I find it a necessity.
I love this one from Piperlime, this one from Nordstrom, this one from Macy's +  this one from Target!

Statement Necklace::
I am loving the statement necklace this summer you can add an awesome pop of color to any outfit
by just adding a great statement necklace!
I love groopdealz, very jane, + bauble bar to find great ones for not too crazy a price

One Piece Swim Suits::
Since I had kids I decided I was no longer comfortable in a two piece suit
so I switched over to a one piece + I have to say I'm never going to look back!
I have this one from Old Navy and the rest of their one piece suits this year are awesome.

Beach Towels::
You have to have these when you have kids getting in + out of the pool or splash pads!
I love this one from Target and this one from Zumiez.

Izze Soda::
I love these sodas they're so good!
You can get them at Whole Foods, New Seasons + sometimes at Target.

BBQing::
I love BBQing anything in the summer!
Steak, Burgers, Chicken, Kabobs, Lamb, Pork, you name it we like to grill it!
You can find some great BBQs at Home Depot or Lowes.

S'mores::
Ok so who doesn't love a good s'more roasted over an open flame?!
I like to use Honey Maid garham crackers, Hershey's special dark chocolate
and Kraft jet puffed jumbo mallows.

Beach Bags::
A beach bag is definitely a necessity in my book.
You have to have a place to hold all the little stuff you have to carry around when you have two small kiddos.
I have this bag from Old Navy
but this one, this one + this one from Gap are super cute too!

iPod/iPhone/iPad/laptop computers::
Basically anything that will play music so you can have some tunes
while you're outside enjoying the gorgeous weather
not matter whether you're at the beach, park, pool or just out in your backyard!
Basically anything Apple is what I would choose.

Sunglasses::
These are a must when it's sunny for me because I have sensitive eyes.
I love these from Target
but Charming Charlie's has a huge selection of colorful fun sunglasses.

Sandals::
When flips are just not appropriate you have to have a great pair of
sandals to throw on with that maxi dress.
Target is always a great place to find sandals, Old Navy or Gap are some of my other favorites.

Nail Polish::
Always have to have those toenails painted a cute summery color!
I love Essie + OPI the best.

Sunscreen::
I always have to have sunscreen with me in the summer!
I burn so easily and of course the kiddos need to be protected too.
I like Supergoop!, AveenoCoppertone Waterbabies.

Aftersun Lotion::
I have found that even after being in the sun for just a few minutes my skin
is super, duper dry!
So This new Hawaiian Tropics aftersun lotion is amazing.

Eyeshadows::
I like to wear simple eyeshadow but I don't want it
smudging or running.
So I like to use Maybelline Color Tattoo cream eyeshadow.

Face Wipes::
I like using face wipes to take my makeup off at night
I use natural ones because of my sensitive skin so
these from Yes to Carrots or these by Simple are my top choices.

Tinted Moisturizer::
I love tinted moisturizer in the summer because it's not as
thick and cakey as regular foundation.
I like either Benefit or BareMinerals because they're both easy on the skin and have SPF in them.

Bronzer::
Bronzer is important to help keep your face looking like it's getting color even when
you are covering it with a hat, sunglasses + SPF!
I like to use Too Faced in Snow Bunny...
it's got 4 colors that mix together to make the perfect light bronzer.

Fake Tan::
I don't tan really anymore because I've had too many scares of maybe having skin Cancer
so I have had stop really just sitting + tanning so I like to use a fake tanner.
I found FakeBake through the lovely + sweet Miss Aubrey over at The Kinch Life
and I have not looked back!
It's awesome and gives you amazing color even after just one time using it.

Texture Spray::
I love a good beachy wave
and I love love love Not Your Mother's Beach Babe or BlowPro Beach Blow.

Hand Sanitizer::
I always have hand sanitizer with me because those playgrounds can be
N A S T Y
so sometimes you have to basically bathe your kids in the stuff when you leave.
I love Bath + Body Works hand sanitizer.

Lipgloss::
I like something that just adds a hint of color to my lips + moisturizes at the same time.
So I am really loving Covergirl LipPerfection Jumbo Gloss Balm
in Berry Twist.

Chapstick::
Since my lipgloss has no SPF in it I have to wear a chapstick over it to protect my lips
from those UV rays.
I love Softlips in Raspberry Mint.

Mascara::
You have to have waterproof mascara in the summer when you're constantly going
to the pool, beach, + splash pads with your kiddies.
I am really loving Maybelline Volum' Express The Rocket in very black.

Personal styling lookbook

I am not the most stylish person
but I do love fashion.
So when I was on Bloglovin the other day
and Lauren from La Petite Fashionista's blog popped up with this post
I knew I needed to go get a style consult from her right away.

We are going on an anniversary trip in July or August to celebrate 5 years
{without the kids!!!}
and I wanted to have some really
comfortable + cute clothes to wear that would be easily transitioned from day to night.
So I went over to Keaton Row
and signed up for an account + filled out the questionnaire
and then sent my request for a Look Book from Lauren for our trip.

Lauren did an absolutely amazing job putting together a look book for me with a bunch of different
looks that are super comfy and will transition so easily.

This is my favorite look she sent over!
I love everything about this look.
That dress looks super comfortable and who doesn't love a denim jacket?!

This is another fave from my lookbook.
I want that maxi dress in my closet like now!

So I definitely recommend if you are fashionably challenged like I am
and you have something coming up that you really want help figuring out what to wear for it...
Go to Keaton Row and request a lookbook from Lauren!
She is super, sweet
and really listens to what you are looking for.
