Thankful

I see people already gearing up to do 25 days of Christmas posts on their blogs 
& I was thinking why not try to do a 22 things I am thankful for. 
So starting November first I am going to be posting one thing that I am thankful for each day until Thanksgiving.

Happy Day Project

I've been reading about this Happy Day Project for the last couple weeks now on other peoples blogs. 
And I decided that I definitely want to be a part of it. 
It's such an amazing thing to do for people to maybe brighten it up just a little bit.

Christmas Trees

Apparently the White House referred to Christmas Trees as “Holiday Trees” for the first time this year. CBS presenter, Ben Stein, made a statement regarding this change. I am not Jewish, I am Christian, however I feel Mr. Stein makes some very valid points.

The following was written by Ben Stein and recited by him on CBS Sunday Morning Commentary.



"My confession:

I am a Jew, and every single one of my ancestors was Jewish. And it does not bother me even a little bit when people call those beautiful lit up, bejewelled trees, Christmas trees. I don't feel threatened. I don't feel discriminated against. That's what they are, Christmas trees.

It doesn't bother me a bit when people say, “Merry Christmas” to me. I don't think they are slighting me or getting ready to put me in a ghetto. In fact, I kind of like it. It shows that we are all brothers and sisters celebrating this happy time of year. It doesn't bother me at all that there is a manger scene on display at a key intersection near my beach house in Malibu. If people want a crib, it's just as fine with me as is the Menorah a few hundred yards away.

I don't like getting pushed around for being a Jew, and I don't think Christians like getting pushed around for being Christians. I think people who believe in God are sick and tired of getting pushed around, period. I have no idea where the concept came from, that America is an explicitly atheist country. I can't find it in the Constitution and I don't like it being shoved down my throat.

Or maybe I can put it another way: where did the idea come from that we should worship celebrities and we aren't allowed to worship God? I guess that's a sign that I'm getting old, too. But there are a lot of us who are wondering where these celebrities came from and where the America we knew went to.

In light of the many jokes we send to one another for a laugh, this is a little different: This is not intended to be a joke; it's not funny, it's intended to get you thinking.

Billy Graham's daughter was interviewed on the Early Show and Jane Clayson asked her: “How could God let something like this happen?” (regarding Hurricane Katrina). Anne Graham gave an extremely profound and insightful response. She said: “I believe God is deeply saddened by this, just as we are, but for years we've been telling God to get out of our schools, to get out of our government and to get out of our lives. And being the gentleman He is, I believe He has calmly backed out. How can we expect God to give us His blessing and His protection if we demand He leave us alone?”

In light of recent events... terrorists attack, school shootings, etc. I think it started when Madeleine Murray O'Hare (she was murdered, her body found a few years ago) complained she didn't want prayer in our schools, and we said OK. Then someone said you better not read the Bible in school. The Bible says thou shalt not kill, thou shalt not steal, and love your neighbour as yourself. And we said OK.

Then Dr. Benjamin Spock said we shouldn't spank our children when they misbehave, because their little personalities would be warped and we might damage their self-esteem (Dr. Spock's son committed suicide). We said an expert should know what he's talking about. And we said okay.

Now we're asking ourselves why our children have no conscience, why they don't know right from wrong, and why it doesn't bother them to kill strangers, their classmates, and themselves.

Probably, if we think about it long and hard enough, we can figure it out. I think it has a great deal to do with 'WE REAP WHAT WE SOW.'

Funny how simple it is for people to trash God and then wonder why the world's going to hell. Funny how we believe what the newspapers say, but question what the Bible says. Funny how you can send 'jokes' through e-mail and they spread like wildfire, but when you start sending messages regarding the Lord, people think twice about sharing. Funny how lewd, crude, vulgar and obscene articles pass freely through cyberspace, but public discussion of God is suppressed in the school and workplace.

Are you laughing yet?

Funny how when you forward this message, you will not send it to many on your address list because you're not sure what they believe, or what they will think of you for sending it.

Funny how we can be more worried about what other people think of us than what God thinks of us.

Pass it on if you think it has merit.

If not, then just discard it.... no one will know you did. But if you discard this thought process, don't sit back and complain about what bad shape the world is in.

Zane


I love this little goober more than anything else in the entire world!
He's the best thing ever.
Life has never been as amazing as it is now that I have him. 
I truly cannot express how much I am in love with this little man.

Praise

I just have to praise God today to have a happy, healthy baby boy! I read a blog that has prayer requests on it all the time and most of them are about children who are sick or who have died recently. It is so absolutely hard to go and read those stories but it just makes me praise God that I have a child that is healthy and doesn't have any medical issues. I am truly blessed that Z is so healthy and I just want to thank God so badly! Praise the Lord that I have a healthy baby! I cannot imagine something being wrong with my baby and not being able to do anything to help him or to lose him so suddenly you have no chance to say goodbye! He is absolutely and utterly my life and I cannot imagine it without him. I think I would completely lose my mind! I would never be the same... I think I could eventually pull myself up and move on but it would take me a VERY long time to bring myself back to normal... well whatever normal will be after that kind of tragedy. So thank you Lord for giving me a child that is healthy and happy! I truly love you for what you do for my family and me.

Fun weekend

We had a great weekend! Friday my mom and I went to the mall and did a little bit of shopping and got Zane his first pair of walkers and they are SOOOOO cute! I can't believe he is so close to walking it seems crazy to me! We also went into the new H&M and it was awesome! I got a pair of flats that are so cute and there was a ton of other stuff I'd love to have but just can't afford it right now... but I will be going back soon enough! I also got my Bare Essentuals and I love it. I can't even tell I am wearing makeup now. Love that! Then that night we went to dinner at Juan Colorado's with my parents & James met us there... Zane was so happy to see his daddy. He really misses him during the week and he doesn't understand why he's not here like he used to be and I can't explain it to him because he's not old enough to get it. But on Friday night when James gets home he freaks out and is so happy. He loves his daddy so much.

Then on Saturday we had Zane's dedication to the Lord at my old Pastor's home where he does a Bible study each Saturday morning. It was amazing to have my baby get dedicated and know that Zane is now a child of the Lord and I have done all that I can to make sure that he is saved... the rest is up to him! I hope he loves Jesus as much as his mommy does.

My pastor's wife had a plaque made with his name, the Bible Verse Numbers 6:25, the date and that he was dedicated that day on it and a picture of him. It was so cute and is such a great memento to have from that day! We will never forget this day because it was such an important one for all 3 of us.

Then on Sunday we went to church in the morning and then to our friend Mairinn's first birthday party at Poppa's Pizza Parlor. Zane loved seeing all the other little kids but he had been up since 7am that morning and he fell asleep in my arms... which he NEVER does! He is too social so he doesn't like to miss anything so he never falls asleep in public but on Sunday he did and I was soaking it up! He never cuddles with me ever because he's too busy playing and he hates to be rocked so I don't even get to rock him to sleep at night... he prefers to put himself to sleep by talking to himself. So this was a really HUGE treat for me! I couldn't have been happier.
Could I smile any bigger?! 

Then James had to go back down to Salem that night... sad! I hate that he's gone all week. I miss him so much but it's going to benefit us in the long run for him to be changing over to the road instead of staying in the jail. He can promote higher and do more things if he is a patrol officer. So it will be good for us later on. I just can't wait for May 20th when he is done and back home with us! Well and the next day is Zane's 1st Birthday! So that's going to be a huge weekend for us... I can't wait.

For those who risk their lives for us everyday

I just finished watch Peal Harbor with the hubs and it made me think about all those people out there who risk their lives for us on a daily basis whether it be in the Military, Law Enforcement or Firefighter. I just want to say THANK YOU! Thank you for what you do to keep the rest of us safe.


I don't have anyone I know that is a firefighter but thank you for running into danger to save people on a daily basis. What you do is amazing.  So thank you!


My husband is in law enforcement and I am so proud of him for what he does. He risks his life everyday so that I can live my life knowing that someone else out there cares so much that they risk their life for me every single day! I have also become good friends with many other law enforcement officers because of his career and I love each and everyone of them for what they do! I can't thank them enough.


I don't have any family members in the Military but I did. My father was in the Army and fought in the Vietnam War and my cousin was in the Army also until he was Honorably discharged for medical reasons. And I am so proud of them both! They both chose to fight for our country keep us free and safe. And to all those soldiers overseas fighting for us. Thank you!


So to all of those who are out there risking their life so that I can have freedom and be safe in my country and home thank you!

Faith

So James and I have been talking about trying to find a church to go to for awhile now and last night I just had this feeling that we need to do get into a church now! So we are going to try the Sunset Presbyterian Church again.


We went there last year on Easter and we both really enjoyed the service and since it's such a big church I think that they will probably have a fabulous Sunday School program for Zane to go to while we are in church. I think it will really help me feel like I am doing something great for my son! I want him to be religious. He doesn't have to go to church every week and be completely obsessed but I do want him to believe in God and have a faith that is strong in the Lord. That is something that I have always wanted for my children even before I had them.


Faith is so important to me and God is a big part of my life and how I have chosen to live my life and how I want to raise my children. So to find a church that we can take our children to and be happy with. That would make me so very happy!

So if anyone has any suggestions on any other churches that we could try out please let me know! That would be amazing! Thanks. Have a wonderful rest of your week!
